Network Engineer Specialist

Job Description

The Network Engineer specialising in Extreme networks to support a client network infrastructure. Installs, sets up, and troubleshoot the local area network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).

Core Competencies:

• Excellent knowledge of Extreme enterprise networking products such as router and switches
• Experience in LAN and WAN technologies, network design, network management etc.
• Experience in networking concepts OSI, TCP /IP, Subnetting, Routing and Switching.
• Ability to analyse and evaluate technical requirements and specifications.
• Ability to perform routine duties independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to thrive and respond to frequent demands of multiple constituents, both internal and external, in a customer centric manner and high demand environment.

Job Responsibilities:

•  Plan, design and Implement Extreme LAN network at the DC and multiple office locations.
• Develop low level design document of LAN infrastructure for each site
• Create and maintain the configuration and operational document.
• Upgrade of Bios, firmware and software upgrade of Extreme devices.
• Makes recommendations on changes in network configuration to improve delivery and availability of service.
• Recommends, maintains, and implements policies and procedures for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
• Installs, monitors, maintains, supports and optimizes moderately complex network hardware, such as wired, wireless or other network equipment.
• Supports software, systems and communication links such as structured cabling and single and multi-mode fibre.
• Interacts with vendors and service providers to resolve moderate to complex network related problems and implement solutions.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field.
• Cisco or Extreme network certification
• Prior experience with enterprises that include multiple site locations.
• Valid driver's license.
